The Kamado Chair, named after traditional Japanese clay ovens, emphasizes the unique Japanese aesthetic in a minimalist fiber-reinforced concrete lounge chair. Kamado means "place for the cauldron" and the traditional ovens were built directly on the ground from clay. Air vents around the base give the impression of legs, which were used as a reference for the front legs of the Kamado Chair. The asymmetry that was common in the first stoves is emphasized in the Kamado Chair by the one-sided armrest for increased and relaxing seating comfort.
The chair is cast from lightweight fiber-reinforced concrete, creating a unique surface structure and increasing the overall mobility of the chair. Each piece is hand painted to create a textured and unique finish. Emphasizing the fine balance between sharp architectural lines and Japanese aesthetics, the Kamado Chair is a sculptural statement with convincing seating comfort.
